President U Min Aung Hlaing, who is on an official visit to Moscow, met with families of the Myanmar Embassy and Military Attaché Office in the Russian Federation at the Myanmar Embassy in Moscow at 5 pm local time yesterday.
The President was warmly welcomed by embassy and military
attaché office personnel and their families
upon arrival. During the meeting, he spoke about Myanmar-Russia relations,
national development, education and human-resource development, and the
responsibilities of Myanmar representatives and trainees serving abroad.
He said Myanmar and Russia had maintained continuous
relations since establishing diplomatic ties after Myanmar gained independence,
noting that Russia had provided assistance to Myanmar over successive periods.
The President said political instability over successive
periods had been a weakness for Myanmar and that the country should learn
lessons from years of limited development. He said he had sought to contribute
to the country’s development throughout his military career and was continuing
to work toward national development as President.
He also said efforts were being made to provide ethnic
communities with democratic and federal rights while promoting domestic
stability and peace. He emphasized the importance of developing educated human
resources, improving citizens’ educational standards, sending scholars abroad,
and strengthening international and workplace relations.
Addressing diplomats and military trainees in Russia, he
urged them to study diligently, perform their duties with a commitment to
national development, and contribute to the success of their respective
organizations. He also encouraged trainees to learn about Myanmar’s history and
current affairs and share accurate knowledge about the country with
international students.
He stressed the importance of maintaining national identity
while abroad, including respect for the national flag and anthem. He also urged
Myanmar nationals serving and studying in Russia to learn foreign languages,
literature and modern computer technologies, as well as to read and apply
knowledge gained from books.
The President said Myanmar-Russia cooperation had been
expanding across various sectors, including trade, culture and education, and
that the two countries would continue to strengthen cooperation in additional
areas. He encouraged Myanmar scholars studying in Russia to make effective use
of the knowledge and skills they acquired for the benefit of the country.
He called on all embassy and military attaché families to live and work together
in unity and harmony.
Following the meeting, the President presented food items and
honorariums to the embassy and military attaché office families, which were received
by Myanmar Ambassador to Russia U Myo Moe Aung and the Military Attaché (Army, Navy and Air) Brig-Gen Moe
Kyaw.
He then signed the guest book at the Myanmar Embassy in
Russia and cordially greeted members of the embassy and military attaché office families before his
departure.
