President of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar U Min Aung Hlaing, who is currently on an official visit to the Russian Federation, met Head of the Republic of Tuva Mr Vladislav Khovalyg at the Government House of the Republic of Tuva in Kyzyl at 7 pm local standard time yesterday.
Upon arrival
at the Government House, where the meeting was held, President U Min Aung
Hlaing was warmly welcomed by Chairman of the Supreme Khural (Parliament) of
the Republic of Tuva Mr Kara-ool Sholban and officials.
During the
meeting, the Head of the Republic of Tuva warmly welcomed the high-level
Myanmar delegation led by President U Min Aung Hlaing. He then briefed the
President on the history and regional characteristics of Tuva, ongoing
agricultural, livestock breeding and mineral production activities, and the
fact that the majority of Tuva’s population practises Buddhism and shares
religious traditions with Myanmar. He also expressed his desire to further
promote cooperation between Myanmar and Tuva in various sectors, including
religion and culture, education and tourism.
Following
his remarks, President U Min Aung Hlaing expressed his appreciation to the Head
of Tuva and members of the regional government for the warm welcome extended to
the high-level Myanmar delegation. He said this was his first visit to Tuva and
that the clean, beautiful and green mountainous landscapes he had seen had
brought a sense of peace and pleasure.
The
President noted that Myanmar and Russia are reliable and trusted friends.
Although the two countries are geographically distant, they have maintained
long-standing and cordial diplomatic relations. He said the two countries are
now in a favourable position to further accelerate friendship and cooperation.
The cooperation between the central governments of the two countries has been
strengthened, while cooperation among their respective regions and states has
also been expanding rapidly.
He also said
Tuva is a region rich in mineral resources with well-developed agricultural and
livestock sectors, while Myanmar is also endowed with abundant natural
resources both above and below ground and has strong agricultural and livestock
sectors. Therefore, he noted, there are considerable opportunities to further
expand cooperation between Myanmar and Tuva.
He pointed
out that Myanmar is a predominantly Buddhist country, while the majority of
people in Tuva practise Tibetan Buddhism. This provides opportunities to
promote pilgrimage and tourism between the two sides. He further explained that
efforts are being made to further strengthen diplomatic relations in order to
increase contacts and exchanges between the governments and peoples of the two
countries. He also discussed in detail the prospects for further promoting
friendship and cooperation between the two countries.
The
President and Head of Tuva posed for a documentary photo, and enjoyed the
dinner together. After the dinner, they exchanged commemorative gifts.
