ME in Cairo urges nationals to stay alert after 5.5-magnitude quake

A 5.5-magnitude earth­quake struck near Cairo, Egypt, on 3 August, and the Embassy of Myan­mar in Cairo has advised Myanmar nationals liv­ing in Egypt to remain alert and take necessary precautions.

According to the embassy’s statement, a moderate earthquake measuring 5.5 on the Richter scale struck at around 3 am on 3 August, with its epicentre near Cairo. The tremour was felt noticeably for several minutes.

The embassy has urged Myanmar nationals in Egypt to pay close attention to earthquake

safety measures and to turn on earthquake alerts on their mobile phones.

It also advised them to keep important documents, including passports and visa cards, in places where they can be easily accessed. The embassy stated that Myanmar nationals who experience injuries or emergencies caused by earthquakes or other natural disasters should contact the Embassy of Myanmar for assistance.
