THE Rakhine State government stated that Kyauktan I and II weirs are being constructed on Maday Island to store water for the Kyaukpyu Special Economic Zone (SEZ) project.
Rakhine State Chief Minister U Naing Oo inspected the construction works on 29 July, accompanied by the deputy speaker of the Rakhine State Hluttaw and state ministers.
During the visit, the chief minister also inspected the operations of the South-East Asia Oil and Gas Pipeline Project on Maday Island, including oil and gas transport through pipelines, safety equipment installed at the project site, fire prevention measures, oil tankers at the project’s port, and the transfer of fuel oil from tankers to storage tanks.
In Kyaukpyu Township, the chief minister inspected regional development projects being
implemented by the State Government, including the condition of the Ngalapwayt saltwater embankment in Pyinphyumaw Ward, the completion of parapet construction on the embankment, the installation of a solar dryer drone in the ward, and the site of gas turbines for supplying electricity to Kyaukpyu Township.
