The Government of India, through the Embassy of India in Myanmar, donated medical teaching equipment to the Defence Services Medical Academy to support undergraduate and postgraduate medical education. The handover ceremony was held in meeting hall 1 of the academy’s Main Academic Building yesterday morning.
At the event, Chief of Armed Forces
Training Lt-Gen Pyae Sone Lin made an opening speech. Indian Ambassador to
Myanmar Mr Abhay Thakur explained the donation, handed over the
donation-related documents to the Director of Medical Services, and received the
certificate of honour in return.
The Rector of the Defence Services
Medical Academy delivered words of thanks. The attendees inspected the donated
equipment and observed its use in medical teaching activities.
The donated equipment includes a set
of laparoscopic surgical equipment, an advanced dental modelling system, a
genetic testing machine, a digital slide scanner for pathology laboratories, an
advanced audio and video system for medical education, large-format computer
displays and high-quality projectors. Such donation is expected to
significantly support medical education, research and healthcare services,
while further strengthening the longstanding friendship and cooperation between
Myanmar and India.
