THE Myanmar Embassy in Jakarta issued an advisory on 27 August, encouraging Myanmar citizens in Jakarta, Indonesia, to strictly avoid travelling to busy areas, public gatherings, and crowded locations due to the recent situation unfolding in the city.
The notice specifically advises Myanmar
citizens residing in Indonesia to refrain from visiting crowded places such as
schools, university campuses, markets, shopping centres, train stations, and
prominent landmarks. Additionally, the embassy urges students to avoid visiting
areas where crowds are gathering during this time.
The advisory also requests citizens to
contact and inform the Myanmar Embassy promptly in the event of an emergency or
unavoidable situation.
On 27 August, thousands of people gathered
to protest in front of the parliament building in Jakarta, demanding stricter
measures against corruption and the passage of a bill allowing the seizure of
assets obtained through corruption.
