The Wazira Cinema paper-reading ceremony or Artistic Heritage Through the Ages was held yesterday at Sarso Beikman in Mingala Taungnyunt Township, Yangon.
The
paper-reading session was attended by Union Minister for Information U Htein
Linn, the Yangon Region minister for Information, Relief and Religious Affairs,
scholars from various fields of literature, film, theatre, music, invitees and
interested parties. Union Minister U Htein Linn delivered the opening speech,
stating that the paper-reading session is a very important record for the
history of Myanmar cinema and art. It was held in pursuit of the very
significant motto of preserving the past and building the future.
“The
State government has made great efforts to promote Myanmar art. The
international-level Wazira Theatre, which we are reviving today, will prove how
much we value and preserve our cultural and historical heritage,” he added.
A
paper-reading ceremony was followed, where seven authors from the Myanmar
Motion Pictures Organization, the National University of Culture and Fine Arts
(Yangon), the Myanmar Affairs Research Group, the Myanmar Theatrical
Association (Central), and the Myanmar Music Association (Central) read their
papers.
Afterwards,
the Union minister presented awards to the chairperson and the authors.
