President of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar U Min Aung Hlaing, who is in the People’s Republic of China on his State Visit, held a meeting with Chairman Mr Zhao Leji of the Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress (NPC) at the Great Hall of the People yesterday afternoon.
At
the meeting, the NPC Chairman stated the continuous efforts between China and
Myanmar to initiate cooperation beneficial to each other under their
agreements, extension of his invitation to the Speakers of the Hluttaw and
representatives to China, and his firm belief for leadership of the new
government of Myanmar to achieve peace and stability as well as greater
development.
The
President emphasized the promotion of cooperation between the National People’s
Congress of China and Myanmar’s Hluttaws, plans of sending Myanmar Hluttaw
representatives to make visits to China, exchange of experiences in the
legislative process, and Hluttaw administration and people’s representation.
They
also cordially exchanged views on measures to ensure deep cooperation between
the Hluttaws of the two countries, promotion of bilateral trade and investment,
combatting online scams and gambling activities, cooperation in drug
eradication, and implementation of the peace process to deepen cooperation in
border stability and security measures.
After
the meeting, they cordially greeted each other.
Also
present at the meeting were Union Ministers U Khin Maung Yi, U Tin Maung Swe,
Dr Kan Zaw, U Ko Ko Lwin, Dr Charlie Than and U Tun Ohn, Kachin State Chief
Minister U Khet Htein Nan, Shan State Chief Minister U Sai Htein Soe, senior
Tatmadaw officers from the Office of the Commander-in-Chief, deputy ministers,
Myanmar Ambassador to China U Zaw Win Myint and officials. The NPC Chairman was
accompanied by Chinese Ambassador to Myanmar Ms Ma Jia and officials.
