Union Minister for Information U Htein Lin inspected the IPRD offices, broadcasting operations and printing services in Sagaing and Mandalay regions yesterday.
During the tour, the Union minister inspected the land areas in which the new Sagaing District IPRD office will be constructed, together with the region chief minister, and also observed the TV and FM broadcasting and FM at the MRTV retransmission station on Sagaing Hill. The Union minister urged officials to make efforts to offer the best entertainment programmes in the best quality for the people.
At noon, the Union minister met staff members of the affiliated departments at the meeting hall of the Mandalay IPRD office.
During the meeting, he said it is necessary to ensure that rural residents gain greater knowledge and awareness through accurate and reliable information disseminated via television, radio and newspapers, as well as practical information on agriculture and livestock breeding through the media. He also stressed the need to intensify efforts to cultivate reading habits and promote a reading culture among the public. He presented food items and cash awards to the staff.
The Union minister and party proceeded to MRTV Mandalay Bureau, Sub-Printing House (Mandalay), and IPRD Mandalay District Office’s Community Centre, and observed the discussion session of the Mandalay Book Club’s members.
