Minister of Industry of the Republic of Belarus Mr Andrei Kuzniatsou, Minister of Agriculture and Food Mr Yury Horlau, Minister of Health Mr Aliaksandr Khajayeu, Chairperson of the Belarusian State Concern for Production and Sale of Light Industry Goods (Bellegprom) Ms Nadzeya Lazarevich, and the delegation, along with officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Yangon), arrived at the Shwedagon Pagoda yesterday afternoon and were welcomed by Yangon Region Minister for Social Affairs U Htay Aung and members of the Shwedagon Pagoda Board of Trustees.
The Belarusian delegation first
visited the Shwedagon Pagoda and offered flowers, water, oil lamps, and incense
to the Buddha image in the prayer hall. After signing the guest book, the
members of the Board of Trustees presented a Shwedagon Pagoda replica and a
record book to the delegation.
The Belarusian delegation then paid
homage to the Jade Buddha image at the Shwedagon Pagoda and toured the
religions buildings on the pagoda grounds.
The delegation also posed for a
group photo at the Shwedagon Pagoda and rang the bell of King Thayawady to
share merits gained.
They then visited Bogyoke Market,
where they viewed and purchased jewellery, jade, sculptures, necklaces,
traditional clothing, gold and silver embroidery, paintings, and other
handicrafts displayed in the market.
Afterwards, the delegation led by
the Minister of Industry of the Republic of Belarus departed from Yangon at 7
pm, and the delegation led by Bellegprom Chairperson Ms Nadzeya Lazarevich
departed at 7:45 pm. They were seen off by Yangon Region Chief Minister U Soe
Thein, Deputy Minister of Health Dr Aye Tun, regional ministers, and officials
from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Yangon) at Yangon International Airport.
Before departing Yangon
International Airport, Yangon Region Chief Minister U Soe Thein met Mr Maxim
Ryzhenkov, who was presented with a photo album documenting his trip to Yangon
during his stay in Myanmar, at the airport lounge.
