More political groups seek registration after party formation approval

AS of today, 27 groups have submitted applications to the Union Election Commission (UEC) seeking permission to form political parties, specifying their intended party names. Among them, the UEC has already approved 19 groups to form political parties.

Of these 19 approved parties, the Pa-O National Unity Party, led by Khun Than Myint, has submitted a formal application yesterday to register as a political party within the 30 days allowed from the date of party formation approval, under Section 7 of the Political Parties Registration Law.

The UEC has so far granted registration to 15 of the 19 approved political parties, while it continues scrutinizing the remaining applications for potential registration, according to official sources.
