The construction of a viewing tower in Sri Ksetra, Pyay Township, Bago Region, is nearly 70 per cent complete, according to the Department of World Heritage Sites (Sri Ksetra Branch).
The 42-foot-high viewing tower is located on Kyettuyway Hill, west of the Sri Ksetra ancient city in Pyay, and is being built by the Ministry of Construction during the 2024-2025 financial year.
“The viewing tower under
construction consists of three levels: two levels of 12 feet and one level of
10 feet. Construction of the tower began in early November 2024, and it is
currently about 70 per cent complete. The remaining Myanmar handicrafts are yet
to be installed,” said an official from the Sri Ksetra Department of World
Heritage Sites.
The tower, considered the highest
point in the entire Sri Ksetra ancient city, offers stunning views of the
ancient city, Mingyi Hill in Pyay, and the Ayeyawady River to the west, and is
expected to attract more tourists once completed.
In addition, the Pyay District
General Administration Department and the Department of Highways, have a plan
to construct a road, parking lots, restaurants, and souvenir shops for visitors
arriving by car from the foot of the hill to the tower in the coming financial
years.
