Myanmar authorities sent back 365 Chinese nationals, who were involved in online gambling, telecom fraud and destructive actions, via the Myanmar-Thailand Friendship Bridge II on humanitarian grounds and for bilateral relations yesterday.
From 30
January to 27 March, a total of 8,670 foreign nationals who entered Myanmar
illegally were identified and detained. Of them, 6,163 were systematically
handed over to the relevant countries via Thailand in accordance with legal
procedures, and the remaining 2,507 foreign nationals are ready for
repatriation and are being well cared for.
The 8,670
detainees, are from China, Indonesia, Vietnam, Malaysia, Pakistan, India,
Uganda, Ethiopia, Nepal, Thailand, Rwanda, Kenya, Kazakhstan, Cambodia, Ghana,
Bangladesh, Japan, Sri Lanka, South Africa, Tunisia, Algeria, Congo, Cameroon,
Uzbekistan, Nigeria, Kyrgyzstan, Namibia, Madagascar, Romania, Russia, the
Philippines, and Chinese Taipei, and most of them are Chinese nationals.
The
government is also intensifying efforts to crack down on online scams and
online gambling by cooperating with international countries, including
neighbouring countries, especially through the Myanmar-China-Thailand
Trilateral Cooperation.
