The Buddha Pujaniya Tabaung festival will be held in March at ShweUmin Cave in Pindaya Township, Danu Self-Administered Zone, southern Shan State, according to the Buddha Pujaniya festival organizing committee.
The festival will take place from the
10th waxing day of Tabaung to the full moon day of Tabaung, featuring theatre
performances and traditional Danu dances. During the Buddha Pujaniya Tabaung
festival, the ethnic residents will offer alms, flowers, water, lighting, and
cash to the 8,094 Buddha images in ShweUmin Cave. The morning alms and
rice-offering ceremony will include monks from Pindaya Township as well as
monks from other areas. The reunion day for the Danu ethnic people will be held
alongside sports games and a market fair.
