FIVE monks led by Presiding Sayadaw of Hteesaekha Monastery Bhaddanta Pannya Vamsa in Loilinlay Township, Kayah State, faced attacks from KNDF and PDF terrorists near Aungkalat Village on the Loikaw-Hsihseng Road yesterday morning while they were heading to Mandalay by car to buy materials to construct new pagoda.
After the incident, security forces
proceeded to that place, and terrorists retreated and found Sayadaw U
Pinobhasa, U Candhima and U Pandita had got gunshot wounds and U Candhima died
from the gunshot wounds. The dead body of the Sayadaw was taken to the military
hospital in Loikaw. Kayah State Chief Minister U Zaw Myo Tin and departmental
officials paid homage to the deceased Sayadaw and donated cash for the final
rites of Sayadaw.
Moreover, the two injured Sayadaws
were also taken to the military hospital in Taunggyi and provided with medical
treatment. Eastern Command Commander Maj-Gen Zaw Min Latt and officials paid
homage to Sayadaws and donated cash and robes.
Terrorists are attempting to kill
Sayadaws in addition to civilians who do not support them using various
reasons. Locals also should report to authorities regarding suspected movements
and activities of terrorists.
