THE Chairman of the Anti-Corruption Commission U Sit Aye received a Russian delegation led by Mr Bazhutov Sergey, Head of the General Department of Criminal Court Proceedings at Lake View Hall of Shwe Nan Taw Hotel yesterday to hold a roundtable on recovering assets from corruption and workshop on anti-corruption, as part of MoU on corruption in anti-corruption (2024-2026) signed by the commission and Russian Prosecutor-General Office on 4 September 2024 in Russia.
During the
roundtable, the commission chairman discussed the benefits of bilateral
cooperation in sharing experience and information, holding international
seminars, workshops and roundtables, and active cooperation in combating
transnational crimes.
He also
highlighted the intention of the commission to grab public participation in
anti-corruption activities and create a society that condemns corruption at all
to establish clean government and good governance, and willingness to deepen
bilateral cooperation.
Then, Mr
Bazhutov Sergey remarked, and the deputy director-general and director of the
commission's office discussed the international experience in recovering assets
from corruption, setting up focal points and negotiations among countries at
international anti-corruption platforms.
During the
workshop, Russian Senior Prosecutors Ms Shikhanova Anna and Mr Gudkov Nikolay
discussed the topics- “International cooperation on detection of corruption
crimes” and" Improvement of methods of countering crimes committed with
the use of information and communication technologies and in the sphere of
computer information, using digital traces to detect persons who commit such
deeds”.
The
commission chairman hosted dinner for the Russian delegation at Pool Side Hall
of the hotel in the evening.
