3-day illegal trade crackdown seizes goods worth K1.707B

 



UNDER the supervision of the Illegal Trade Eradication Steering Committee, efforts to combat the illicit trade continue effectively by the law.



On 20 and 21 November, the combined teams seized the mineral to be assumed as antimony weighing 593,500 kilogrammes valued at K362.687 million that were different from the Import Declaration (ID) from 25 containers at the Asia World Port Terminal container checkpoint, Zirconia and industrial materials worth K24.163 million without official document at the Yangon International Airport, illegal timbers weighing 124.444 tonnes worth K16.874 million in Pathein, Labutta and Pyapon districts and an unregistered vehicle and ten unregistered motorbikes (approximately K34.6 million) in Pathein, Pyapon, Myaungmya, Maubin and Hinthada districts. The action was taken under the Forest Law, the Export-Import Law and Customs procedures.

On 22 November, the combined teams conducted inspections in the seizures of four kinds of industrial material and foodstuffs valued at K12.76 million that were smuggled and piled up at the fishing jetty in Kawthoung Township, foodstuffs worth K13.44 million without official documents from a warehouse in Mingaladon Township. The action was carried out according to Customs procedures.

Additionally, the squads nabbed a Hino Ranger truck (approximately K35 million) carrying a kind of foodstuff worth K17.255 million without official documents at the Yadanabon bridge (Mandalay) checkpoint, seven tractor heads with seven trailers (estimated value of K457 million) carrying seven kinds of industrial materials valued at K376.138 million without official documents near Myitnge Tollgate on Sagaing- Mandalay Road, a Kia truck (approximately K30 million) carrying illegal teak weighing 18.952 tonnes worth K66.333 million at the Myitnge Dry Port and two Hino Profia trucks (estimated value of K110 million) that were parked carrying 13 kinds of consumer goods wroth K150.944 million without official documents in Aungban Township. The action was conducted following Customs procedures.

The Illegal Trade Eradication Steering Committee reported 47 arrests from 20 to 22 November, confiscating illegal goods worth approximately K1.707 billion.
