Union Minister for Industry, Dr Charlie Than, held a meeting with Chief Minister U Myo Aung of the Mandalay Region at the Mandalay Region government office on 17 October.
During the
meeting, they discussed matters related to the development of the Yadanabon
Industrial Zone with government officials. The discussion also covered
strategies for achieving self-sufficiency in domestic edible oil and the
progress made in the cotton sector.
The Chief
minister provided a detailed update on the region’s efforts to boost oil crop
production to ensure a sufficient domestic supply of edible oil, develop the
cotton industry, and implement solar-powered double roller cotton gins.
The meeting
also focused on future strategies for fostering the growth of MSMEs and
establishing well-organized industrial zones.
Following
the meeting, the Union minister visited the Mandalay Region Industrial
Supervision and Inspection Department office to meet with employees and provide
them with rice and oil.
On 18
October, the Union minister visited the No 2 Industrial Training School in
Mandalay to inspect preparations for the opening of garment training schools
with Chinese technical assistance. He also instructed the school officials to
develop a well-structured curriculum.
After he
visited the industrial training school, the Union minister proceeded to the
December Dairy Cattle Farm in PyinOoLwin, where he inspected the construction
of a dairy factory and pledged technical support for its success.
Furthermore,
on the morning of 19 October, the Union minister went to the No 7 Garment
Factory in Myittha. He met factory managers from the Kyaukse Industrial Area
and the factory’s employees, attending to the needs. In the afternoon, he
inspected the solar-powered oil crop milling system at the No 8 Garment Factory
Branch in Yamethin and ensured that all requirements were fulfilled.
