MSWRR Deputy Minister receives UNHCR AP Regional Director

 

Deputy Minister for Social Welfare, Relief, and Resettlement U Soe Kyi met Ms Hai Kyung Jun, Director of the Asia-Pacific Regional Bureau Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), at the ministry at 11:30 am yesterday, according to reports.

They discussed the findings from the Director’s recent visits to Sittway in Rakhine State and Taunggyi in Shan State. The conversation focused on the government’s and ministry’s continued support and rehabilitation efforts for those impacted by recent floods. Both sides engaged in a friendly and open dialogue, exploring the possibility of signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Ministry and UNHCR under appropriate conditions.
