Certain malicious media outlets falsely reported that returnees from abroad, like seafarers and those who faced difficulties while working overseas, were arrested at Yangon International Airport, with no communication allowed between them and their families.
However,
according to an airport official, these claims are untrue. Only routine
inspections carried out in line with established procedures take place for
individuals returning from abroad, and no arbitrary arrests have been made
recently. Misinformation spread by subversive media aims to instil fear and
misrepresent both the State and Tatmadaw.
