The National-Level Workshop on Physical Rehabilitation and Mental Health Needs Support for Explosive Ordnance Victims in the ASEAN Region was organized in Nay Pyi Taw yesterday.
Speaking at
the event, Union Minister of Social Welfare, Relief and Rehabilitation Dr Soe
Win said the explosive ordnance victims suffer mental issues, and it impacts
their families and surroundings to a certain extent. The rehabilitation process
for the victims should be long-term operation, and therapy, vocational
training, mental health counselling, and proper methods to ease their pain also
should be provided.
The meeting
will set a better roadmap for the explosive ordnance victims based on the data
found during the field study.
Then,
Executive Director Ms Rothnia Buth of ASEAN Regional Mine Action Centre (ARMAC)
remarked, and attendees discussed the assistance for mine victims,
international mine action standards, and fieldwork findings.
