THE medical team of Yangon General Hospital successfully performed a thumb replantation operation on 30 July.
The patient was Maung Sai Zaw
Htike, 26, who lives in Hlinethaya Township, Yangon. He encountered a cutting
accident at his workplace, the construction site, and got right thumb traumatic
amputation.
He was taken to Yangon General
Hospital, and the thumb replantation was started at 7:35 pm and completed at
11:35 pm on that day.
The thumb replantation was
performed by a hand operation group led by Dr Khine May Oo, Dr Ye Naing Oo and
Dr Min Min Aung, an anaesthetic team led by Dr Darli Soe Win, Dr Htet Aung Lin
and Dr Aung Ko Ko and nurse team led by Daw Poe Khant Htoo and Daw Hnin
Eainzali.
As the health condition and blood
circulation of the right thumb showed improvement, he was allowed to be
discharged on 12 August (after 13 days of replantation). Moreover, the
healthcare service was provided to him as an outpatient, and the thumb was in
normal condition after 28 days of replantation. MNA/KTZH
