More than 20 Chinese nationals involved in online fraud extradited in September

 

INFORMATION exchange between the Myanmar Police Force, under the Ministry of Home Affairs, and China’s Ministry of Public Security is ongoing to identify and arrest the culprits in their joint effort to conduct law enforcement and combat online fraud between the two countries.

According to the information exchanged between the law enforcement organizations of the two countries, authorities became aware that criminals led by China’s wanted fugitive Cheng Dawei were living in Yangon and Mandalay and operating online fraud activities. During the search and arrest in July, 20 Chinese nationals, including Cheng Dawei and Yang Liang, were identified and arrested.

On 19 September, 20 Chinese nationals, including Cheng Dawei, were extradited to China with adequate security in accordance with the procedure.

The Myanmar Police Force, under the Ministry of Home Affairs, is investigating online fraud activities and taking effective action in collaboration with law enforcement organizations from neighboring countries to prevent and combat online fraud and online gambling in accordance with domestic laws.
