Union Health Minister receives Russian Ambassador to Myanmar

 

UNION Minister for Health Dr Thet Khaing Win met Mr Iskander Azizov, Ambassador of Russia to Myanmar, at the Ministry of Health in Nay Pyi Taw yesterday morning.

During the meeting, they discussed various aspects of enhancing cooperation between the two countries in the medical field. Topics included the upgrading of Taunggyi Sao San Tun General Hospital, collaboration in cancer radiation treatment, mutual dispatch of medical experts, and research cooperation, with a focus on oncology, cardiology, surgery, brain and neuromedical treatment. They also explored collaboration for the mutual recognition of medical degrees, ongoing educational exchanges such as Myanmar paediatricians learning in Russia, the collaboration between Yangon General Hospital and Napalkov Cancer Centre in St Petersburg of Russia, as well as pharmaceutical manufacturing and importation issues.

Following the productive discussion, souvenirs were exchanged between the Union minister and the Russian ambassador.

The meeting was attended by officials from the Ministry of Health, including the deputy minister, director-general of the Food and Drug Administration Department, deputy permanent secretary, and economic attache and diplomatic representatives from the Russian Embassy.
