THE first day of the 59th Myanmar Gems Emporium was held at the Mani Yadana Jade Hall in Nay Pyi Taw yesterday.
A total of 400 pearl
lots, 160 gem lots, 1,000 jade lots of Group A, 1,750 jade lots of Group B and
1,800 jade lots of Group C, totalling 4,550 jade lots, will be sold under the
open tender system.
Pearl lots were on
display on 3 May and will be sold under the open tender system on 4 and 5 May,
while the gem lots will be on display from 3 to 5 May, and they will be sold on
6 May through the tender system. The jade lots of groups A and B will be displayed
from 3 to 6 May and will be on sale from 7 to 9 May. The jade lots of Group C
will be on display from 3 to 10 May and sold from 11 to 12 May under an open
tender system.
Basic prices for pearl
lots, gem lots and jade lots of groups A and B will be priced in US dollars,
while the jade lots of Group C in Myanmar kyats. The deposits for pearl lots,
gem lots and jade lots of groups A and B will be made by the foreign merchants
with US dollars and euros, yuan and baht, which is equal to US dollars, while
the local merchants can be made with Myanmar kyats. The payment for jade lots
of Group C that are allowed only for local merchants can be made with Myanmar
kyats.
Local and foreign
jewellers can make payments for Group A in US dollars and euros, yuan and baht,
which are equal to US dollars. Foreign jewellers for Group B can pay in US
dollars and euros, yuan and baht, which is equal to US dollars, while the local
jewellers in Myanmar kyats and the local jewellers for Group C can pay in
Myanmar kyats.
The 59th Myanmar Gems
Emporium will take place from 3 to 12 May.
