1. THE Central Bank of Myanmar found that transactions of foreign currencies havebeen taking place using the following Facebook pages and internet websites without holding a foreign currency business licence issued by the Central Bank of Myanmar, and has taken action against those involved in such transactions. In addition, the Facebook pages and phone numbers of those conducting transactions from overseas locations have been reported to the relevant central banks, and negotiations are being carried out to take action against them.

The Central Bank of Myanmar is working with law enforcement agencies to
identify, arrest, and take action against such businesses, and further
monitoring and action will be taken. The developments of the operation will be
communicated to the public in real time.

Therefore, we further inform the public about exchanging foreign currencies
only at licensed financial institutions to exchange foreign currencies.

We further inform the public that those who are illegally trading and
speculating in foreign currencies on the above-mentioned Facebook pages and
internet websites will be prosecuted under Sections 38 and 42 of the Foreign
Exchange Management Law, as well as under sections of the Penal Code for
harming the public interest.
