CBM Governor meets Thai banks’ officials

 

GOVERNOR Daw Than Than Swe of the Central Bank of Myanmar and officials from Siam Commercial Bank, Bangkok Bank, Kasikorn Bank and Krung Thai Bank met yesterday morning at the meeting hall of the Yangon branch of the Central Bank of Myanmar.

They discussed further investment of Thailand in Myanmar, foreign currency banking services between Myanmar and Thailand, CBM’s established policies to stabilize the foreign exchange rate, remittances of trade and Myanmar migrant workers to be diverted from legal channels instead of using illegal Hundis, facilitation of smooth delivery of the wages of expatriate Myanmar workers in Thailand to their families, more investments from Thailand in Myanmar, education and health-related matters on Hundai’s actions to be cooperated by Thai banks, provision of financial support (pre-shipment export financing and post-shipment export financing) to further develop trade between Thailand and Myanmar, foreign exchange rates and the facilitation of foreign currency transfers between the two countries.

CBM Governor Daw Than Than Swe, deputy governors, directors-general, CEOs and officials of Siam Commercial Bank, Bangkok Bank, Kasikorn Bank, and Krung Thai Bank attended the meeting.
