MALICIOUS media outlets spread false information on social media that 1,500 members of KNLA and PDF terrorists attacked the regional bases and exploded the bridge in Mone, Kyaukkyi Township, Bago Region. They conquered Mone on 3 December.
The confirmed case is that the KNLA
and PDFs attacked one regional base in Mone with the use of excessive force on
the morning of 3 December, and officers and other ranks launched counterattacks
until 4 December noon.
On the morning of 5 December,
terrorists retreated when Tatmadaw attacked them with air support and heavy
weapons, and Tatmadaw controlled the regional base in which terrorists
temporarily sheltered and conducted security measures in Mone.
In the clash, insurgents arrested
some military officers, other ranks and families, and the Tatmadaw convoy was
still conducting operations for the release of arrestees.
Moreover, insurgents attacked another
regional base at the same time on 3 December morning – the Thantada security
outpost and Myoma Police Station. There were also armed engagements with the
Tatmadaw convoy, and they retreated.
However, the malicious media released
false information that insurgents occupied military bases, entrance gates and
Mone with 1,500 members, aiming to impose fear on the public and affect
regional stability.
People should notice fake news from
such media outlets, and Tatmadaw pledges to continue counter-terrorism attacks
for regional stability.
