Social media flooded with misleading information: False news, propaganda with inaccurate details spread

False information is circulating on social media, including there were claims of security forces allegedly burning down Htantabin village along Tamu Road, Tamu, Sagaing Region, as well as assertions of two villages in Ponnagyun being burned by security forces in Rakhine State. This misinformation is contributing to the spread of false narratives.

According to the security officials who are working in these areas and contacted the residents, it was learned that there is no movement of security forces in and around these villages. As malicious media, the local people are afraid, this kind of baseless fake news to destroy regional stability and reduce trust in the security forces. It is understood that malicious media are deliberately writing and distributing false information on social networks.
