UNION Minister for Information U Maung Maung Ohn paid obeisance to Alotawpyae Sayadaw at his 79th birthday ceremony and met with literati from the National Literature Award Selection Committee and Sarpay Beikman Manuscript Award Selection Committee yesterday.
In the evening, the Union minister
enjoyed the fundraising concert for the people affected by Mocha.
After paying homage to Alotawpyae
Sayadaw Dr Bhaddanta Ariya Vamsa at Aungmyay Bodhi Dhamma Yeiktha Alotawpyae
Monastery in Tamway township, the Union minister supplicated progress in
rehabilitation in the Mocha-hit areas and donated cash to the fund for birthday
ceremony.
After that, the Union minister met
with literati from the National Literature Award Selection Committee and Sarpay
Beikman Manuscript Award Selection Committee at the Printing and Publishing
Department on Theinbyu Road in Yangon.
During the meeting, the Union
minister called for not leaving any books published in 2022 for the selection
of the awards. He urged those literati to help improve literature and the youth
sector through literature and write books for the purpose of youths to have
correct thought and knowledge.
Then, the director-general of the
Printing and Publishing Department reported on activities related to literary
award selection and selection.
After that, Chairman U Sein Hlaing
(Thura Zaw) of the National Literary Award Selection Committee, Chairman U Ohn
Maung (Myinmu Maung Naing Moe) of the Sarpay Beikman Manuscript Award Selection
Committee and participants discussed the selection for the awards.
In the evening, Union Minister U
Maung Maung Ohn along with Yangon Command Commander Maj-Gen Zaw Hein and
officials enjoyed the fundraising concert for the people affected by Cyclone
Mocha at the National Theatre in Dagon Township, Yangon Region.
The entertainment programme started
at 6:00 pm with a welcome tune from the Myanmar Drama Association and continued
with a preliminary opening tune.
Film artistes, vocalists and comedians
presented songs and dances as well as jokes. At the fundraising concert, the
people who desire for good deeds make donations.
Near the entrance to the theatre,
books on the history of the Myanmar Motion Picture Organization and the dictums
of great historical film directors are displayed and sold. The visitors bought
the books and contributed cash to the fund for the people affected by the
Cyclone.
The fundraising concert will continue
until 4 June, and artistes will be performing with great enthusiasm.
