DEPUTY Minister for Education Dr Zaw Myint accompanied by Deputy Permanent Secretary Dr Myo Min Tun attended the Shanghai Forum on Poverty Reduction and Sustainable Development held in Yangling, Shaanxi Province, People's Republic of China from 29 to 31 May.
The opening ceremony of the forum was
held on the morning of 29 May, and Ms Zhao Yide gave a welcome speech, and the
representatives of the participating countries spoke at the opening.
In his opening remarks, the deputy
minister thanked the Shanghai Cooperation Organization and the China Rural Development
Foundation for their assistance in education for Myanmar and expressed his
belief that rural development methods can be discussed and identified through
this forum.
In the afternoon, the deputy minister
and the delegation met Mr Zheng Wenkai, Chairman of the China Rural Development
Foundation, separately discussed issues of cooperation in education and
exchanged gifts.
The deputy minister attended the panel
discussion held on the morning of 30 May and participated in the discussion on
the topic of sustainable rural development.
In the afternoon, the deputy minister
and the delegation visited the Yangling Smart Agriculture Demonstration Park
and toured the greenhouse planting and seedling production facilities, the
Wangshang Model Agricultural Village and the Northwest A & F University's
Tropical Water Conservation Research Center.
Then, the deputy minister and the
delegation went to Yan'an City and observed the cultivation of apple varieties
at the Luochuan National Apple Industrial Technology and Innovation Centre and
the PV anti-poverty mushroom and sweet potato cultivation project with the TOP
Fruit Technology Company.
