Meeting to review and discuss findings of inspection team that went to Bangladesh for acceptance of displaced persons held

 


A meeting to review and discuss the findings of the ground inspection team that went to Bangladesh for the re-examination and acceptance of displaced persons and the work programmes to be carried out was held at the meeting hall of the Ministry of Border Affairs yesterday morning.

Chair of the Rakhine State Stability, Peace and Development Work Coordination Committee Union Minister for Border Affairs Lt-Gen Tun Tun Naung, Vice-Chair 1 Union Minister for International Cooperation U Ko Ko Hlaing, Vice-Chair 2 Union Minister for Social Welfare, Relief and Resettlement Dr Thet Thet Khine, deputy ministers and officials were present at the meeting and Vice-Chair 3 Chief Minister of Rakhine State U Htein Lin and the minister of Security and Border Affairs of Rakhine State government attended the meeting online.

The chairman of the Rakhine State Stability, Peace and Development Work Coordination Committee first stated that measures will be taken based on the findings of the ground inspection team and that a comprehensive review of the conditions of re-admission arrangements for displaced people should be undertaken.

Vice-Chairs discussed re-verification and acceptance of displaced persons from Rakhine State and providing humanitarian aid and cooperation processes of the UN and international organizations.

Then, members of the committee and officials discussed the progress that had been made in the re-admission of displaced persons and the activities that should be undertaken in the future.
