UNION Minister for Electric Power U Thaung Han, together with Mandalay Region Natural Resources Minister U Shwe Zin, inspected the Kinda 30-megawatt Solar Power Plant project in Myittha Township, Kinda hydropower plant and the 500 kVA Kankaung sub-power station near Mile Post 293 of Yangon-Mandalay highway road yesterday.
On arrival at the Kinda 30 megawatt Solar-powered Power Plant, the officials reported on the project and tested transmission processes.
The Kinda Solar Power Plant is situated near Kyitaing Village and is built on 132.35 acres of land. At present, 19-megawatt electricity has been distributed on a test run and 90.8 per cent of the project has now been completed.
The Union minister and party went to the Kinda Multi-purpose Dam. During the visit, the Union minister inspected the inflow of water into the dam, water storage, and durability of the dam.
On arrival at Kinda Hydropower Plant, they inspected the operation of the power plants and sending of electricity to the national grid.
The Kinda Power Plant is situated on Paung Laung River and it has two 28-megawatt installed generators which can generate 165-kilowatt hours of electricity annually. The electric power has been sent to the national grid through the 132 kV Kinda-Thazi and Kinda-Inngon power lines.
The Union minister and party then arrived at the 500 kV Kanaung Power Sub-Station Project near Mile Post No 293 on Yangon-Mandalay Expressway. They also inspected the transformers, installation of Hybrid Gas Insulated Switch Gear and Shunt Reactor and construction of the control room.
The Kankaung power substation is the very first project of the 500 kV substation in Myanmar and 73.19 per cent of the project has been completed so far.
