Field operations began to increase agricultural sector, livestock activities in Shan State

 

DEPUTY Minister for Agriculture, Livestock and Irrigation Dr Aung Gyi and departmental officials made field trips to southern Shan State to fulfill the needs for the development of agro-based micro, small and medium-scale businesses and the production.

The deputy minister visited the Research Centre in Aungban on 3 December, and stressed the need for officials to draw the crop patterns for serving the interests of farmers and distribution of high yield crops with resilience of plant diseases and agricultural techniques to farmers, and grow crops in double cropping and mix-cropping patterns.

At the Institute of Agri- culture (Heho), the deputy minister inspected admission of students from Heho and Demawhso townships for first year course in the 2022- 2023 academic year and the lecture hall, a practical hall, a small-scale laboratory for the livestock diploma course, and observed the construction of practical room, small laboratories and farms for cow, pig, layers and broilers as well as goats.

Next, the deputy minister, together with Shan State Chief Minister Dr Kyaw Tun, met with livestock businesspersons and farmers in southern Shan State and discussed development of Shan State’s livestock sector and increasing investment in the livestock sector.

The deputy minister handed over rice donated by Japan under the ASEAN+3 emergency rice ration programme-3 to the people facing natural disasters in Shan State for poverty alleviation to the chief minister of the state.
