Illegal timbers, medications, electronics, foodstuffs, consumer goods, car parts and machine parts confiscated

 

A combined inspection team under the supervision of the Yangon Region Anti-Illegal Trade Task Force conducted inspections on 18 November, according to information.

Officials confiscated over K1.137 billion worth of medications without official documents in Dagon township of Yangon Region. The action was taken under Customs Procedures.

A combined team under the management of the Shan State Anti-Illegal Trade Task Force seized over K17 million worth of foodstuffs, consumer goods, car parts and machine parts near the Kyinsankyawt checkpoint in Shan State. The action was taken under Customs Procedures.

Similarly, on 19 and 20 November, an on-duty team captured computer parts and 47 old mobiles worth K7.7 million without official documents during the inspection of passenger luggage at the Yangon International Airport. The action was taken under Customs Procedures.

On 21 November, an on-duty team impounded K1.25 million worth of motorbike tyres without official documents from a vehicle heading from Myawady to Yangon at the Kawkareik (Tadakyoe) Combined Checkpoint and 150 old bicycles worth K2,794,050 without official documents at the Myawady (OSS) Trade Zone. The action was taken under Customs Procedures.

On 22 November, a total of 68.7892 tonnes of illegal teak and hardwood was nabbed in the Toungoo and Nyaunglebin districts. The action was taken under the Forest Law.

A total of eight arrests (approximately K1,192,843,880) were made on five consecutive days from 18 to 22 November, according to the Anti-Illegal Trade Steering Committee.
