MoL Union Minister attends 27th ALMM, 12th ALMM+3

 



UNION Minister for Labour Dr Pwint San attended the 27th ASEAN Labour Ministers’ Meeting (ALMM) and 12th ASE­AN Plus Three Labour Minis­ters Meeting (ALMM+3) hosted by the Department of Labour and Employment of the Phil­ippines in Manila from 28 to 29 October.

During the 27th ALMM held under the topic of “Together as One: Reshaping the World of Work the ASEAN Way Towards Digitalized, Inclusive and Sus­tainable Recovery and Growth”, the Union Minister said the technological inventions that are not conformity with the requirements of future job op­portunities have impacts on the employment of the labourers. It should adopt the skills properly and create new jobs for the ASE­AN workers to be able to work in the coming decade as a result of technological improvement.

He then talked about the reviewing of regional employ­ment urgently for instantly shut­ting down of workplaces, policy changes, reducing wages and job losses due to COVID-19 and preparations for the future, im­provement of labourers’ skills, learning opportunities for new skills to meet the labour demand in digital economic, insurance for occupational safety and health, new normal lifestyle in post-COVID-19 and proper achievements through the coop­eration of ASEAN governments, employees and employers, ex­ploring the essence of ASEAN Community under three pillars of ASEAN and ASEAN unity for future.

The Union minister high­lighted the concerted efforts in unison of the ASEAN along with its growth and sustainable job opportunities using digital inclusive rehabilitation and de­velopment.

The joint statements of 27th ALMM and 12th ALMM+3 will be released, it is learnt.
