Illegal timbers, industrial materials and vehicles confiscated

 

SUPERVISED by the Anti-Illegal Trade Steering Committee, effective action is being taken to prevent illegal trade under the law.

On 28 October, an on-duty team under the supervision of the Customs Department nabbed K2,039,268 worth of Ventilation Work, Flexible Duct and four goods without import licences from a container at the Asia World Port Terminal Container Checkpoint and K6.3 million worth of brand-new telecommunication equipment that did not match the rules and regulations. The action was taken under the Customs Procedures.

In addition, an on-duty team captured 306 kilogrammes of plastic bottles and PE slipper flip flop worth K3,256,433 from two vehicles and a trailer (approximately K155 million) that were not declared in the Import Declaration (ID) at the Mayanchaung Permanent Checkpoint. The action was taken under the Customs Procedures.

Afterwards, on 29 October, a combined team conducted inspections under the management of the Sagaing Region Anti-Illegal Trade Task Force and seized a Toyota Mark II car (approximately K6 million) at the entrance combined checkpoint of Monywa township. The action was taken under the Export and Import Law.

Similarly, officials confiscated a total of 4.1778 tonnes of illegal timbers worth K2,381,284 in the Toungoo and Nyaunglebin districts. The action was taken under the Forest Law.

Therefore, ten arrests (estimated value of K174,976,985) were made on 28 and 29 October, according to the Anti-Illegal Trade Steering Committee.
