UNDER the supervision of the Anti-Illegal Trade Steering Committee, effective action is being taken to prevent illegal trade in accordance with the law.
An
on-duty team, under the management of the Customs Department investigated at
Mayanchaung checkpoint in Mon State on 29 October. The officials found 110 rice
cookers estimated at K2,035,000 and 65 cartons of door lock estimated at
K2,047,500 which were not declared in Import Declaration (ID). And two vehicles
and two trailers which are carrying the goods estimated at K23 million. Total
worth of seizures amounted to K234,082,500 and the action was taken under the
Customs procedure.
Similarly,
under the supervision of the Anti-Illegal Trade Task force of Kayin State, an
on-duty combine team investigates a vehicle which is parked at near the
Chitkyiyay petrol station in Thingan-Nyinaung village. The team seized 960
litres of Two Prawns brand edible oil and four kinds of goods estimated at
K17,048,000 and a vehicle which is carrying the goods estimated at K1.2
million. The total seizure of amounted to K29,048,000 and the action was taken
under the Customs procedure.
Furthermore,
under the supervision of the Anti-Illegal Trade Task Force of Shan State, an
investigation team from Customs Department of Kengtung Township investigated
near Nant-aww village in Kengtung Township. They found 382 bags of Padonmar
detergent powder estimated at K4,584,000 and the action was taken under the
Customs procedure.
Then,
under the supervision of the Anti-Illegal Trade Task Force of Sagaing Region,
on 30 October an investigation team led by Myanmar Police Force investigated at
Inndaw. The team found a Toyota Crown without licence estimated at K2.5 million
and the action was taken under the Export and Import Law.
And
then, under the supervision of the Anti-Illegal Trade Task Force of Bago
Region, an investigation team led by Forest Department investigated at Toungoo
and Nyaunglebin Districts. They found 2.9902 tonnes of illegal timbers
estimated at K1,627,420 and the action was taken under the Forest Law.
Thus,
a total number of arrests was 12 cases and its estimated value is K271,841,920
on 29 and 30 October, according to the Anti-Illegal Trade Steering Committee.
