SUPERVISED by the Anti-Illegal Trade Steering Committee, action is being taken under the law against illegal trades across the nation.
On 2 May, the Rakhine State Forest Department conducted inspections in Taungup and Thandwe townships and seized K5,333,222 worth of illegal timbers (67.4458 tonnes). The action was taken under the Forest Law.
On 4 May, the Kawkareik (Tadakyoe) joint checkpoint of Kayin State seized the used materials for vehicles and machinery, an adjustable aluminium ladder worth K15,975,000 and two cars worth K65,000,000 that carried these illegal materials. The action was taken in accordance with the Customs procedures.
Similarly, the inspection team of the Myanmar Industrial Port Container Checkpoint captured K15,080,000 worth of clothes that were more than the mentioned amount in ID. The action was taken according to the Customs procedures.
Moreover, the Ayeyawady Region Forest Department seized 2.2364 tonnes of illegal timbers worth K156,548 in Yekyi Township and took action under the Forest Law on the same day.
On 5 May, the Bago Region Forest Department also confiscated K317,016 worth of illegal timbers (4.5288 tonnes) in Yedashe Township of Toungoo District and took action under the Forest Law.
Therefore, according to the committee, 18 arrests (estimated value of K135,551,786) were made from 2 to 5 May.
