Illegal teak, utensils and vehicles seized this week

 


BY the Anti-Illegal Trade Steering Committee, effective action is being taken to prevent illegal trade under the law.




On 4 March, a port inspection team from the Port Authority Customs and the Anti-Trafficking and Trafficking Unit conducted an inspection at the Asia World Container Terminal and seized toys (estimated at K45,670,400) that exceeded the import declaration ID.

Raw materials of cotton and cloth not specified in the import declaration ID (estimated value of K11,344,950) were also seized on the same day.

Thus, items worth a total of K57,015,350 were seized and action is taken under the Customs Law.

Managed by the Anti-Illegal Trade Task Force, Customs officers from the Kyaukchaw inspection station patrolled and seized illegal plastic water tanks (estimated at K1,200,000) piled up at Mile Post No. 16/3 on the Mandalay-PyinOoLwin Highway and are taking action under the Customs Law.

Similarly, a joint inspection team led by the Lashio Township Customs Team carried out inspection works on the Hsenwi-Chinshwehaw Road, near Namsalap village on 5 March.

Illegal foodstuff and agricultural products (estimated at K15,300,000) and five vehicles carrying such items (estimated at K61,000,000) were seized and action is taken under the Customs Law.

 

In addition, under the management of the Anti-Illegal Trade Task Force, a joint inspection team led by the Myanmar Police Force inspected and seized two unlicensed vehicles (estimated at K4,500,000) and one motorcycle without a licence (estimated at K100,000) in Sagaing and Kanbalu townships.

Action is taken under the Import and Export Law.

As a result, a total of 18 arrests was made on 4 and 5 March and the estimated value is K139,115,350, according to the Anti-Illegal Trade Steering Committee.
