UNION MINISTER for Labour, Immigration and Population U Thein
Swe received a delegation led by U Maung Maung, Chairman of the Confederation
of Trade Unions of Myanmar (CTUM), yesterday morning, at his ministry’s meeting
room in Nay Pyi Taw.
At the meeting, Union Minister U Thein Swe said that they
came to know the requirements of the employers and the employees, and would
carry out maintaining peaceful and stability working environment while
conducting the trilateral meetings among the Government, employers and
employees.
The ministry was also aware of the important role of both
labourers and the employers, and it is of great importance to build a good
work-place relationship among the Government, employers and labourers. Moreover
it was duty bound to build good work-place relationship and stability.
Arrangements were being made to conduct the training classes for labour laws,
with a view to empowering their skills.
The Ministry of Labour, Immigration and Population have been
adopting the laws prescribed by the Pyidaungsu Hluttaw while holding a
coordination meeting with Hluttaw committees for legal affairs. Plans are under
way to draw up the Settlement of Labour Dispute Law (draft) and which would be
submitted to the Hluttaw if it needed amendments. The proposal should be in
line with the standards of International Labour Organization (ILO) and Direct
Contract Mission Report- DCM, and a solution could be made through the triplets
cooperation, aiming to solve the withdrawal of the Generalized Scheme of Preferences
(GSP) rights imposed by EU.
Then the Union Minister U Then Swe hold talks with Chairman
and members of the CTUM and discussed the proposals for changes on
labour-related draft laws, problems arising in formation trade unions.
Following this, the Un-ion Minister and Director-General of the Labour
Department U Win Shein took part in the discussion and clarified the matters.
