UNION
MINISTER for Health and Sports Dr. Myint Htwe addressed the opening ceremony of
the second meeting of BIMSTEC Task Force on Traditional Medicine in Nay Pyi Taw
yesterday, calling on BIMSTEC member countries for cooperating in research on
traditional medicine.
He
urged the participants of the meeting to make the best use of experiences and
knowledge gained at the meeting as the meeting brought the opportunities to the
member countries to share knowledge on traditional medicine.
The
Union Minister also urged the BIMSTEC member countries share experiences each
other through practicing registration for traditional medicines and upgrade the
research system.
He
also said that the meeting will be focusing on the traditional medicinal
cooperation between the BIMSTEC member countries along with preserving the
species of the medicine and need to take copy rights for them.
To
share knowledge and the result of the research, it will need to hold state
level and international level conferences, meeting and educational talks more,
he said.
The
Union Minister expressed his thanks for compilation of the quality papers and
book on traditional medicine and to be used in the meeting.
He
pledged that his ministry would develop the traditional medicine world.
Next,
Mr. Kunzang N. Tshering, Director at the BIMSTEC Secretariat delivered the
speech.
A
total of 40 representatives from BIMSTEC member countries, Myanmar, Nepal, Sri
Lanka, Bangladesh, Bhutan, India and Thailand are attending the meeting.
