YANGON
Region Chief Minister urged the Yangon City Development Committee (YCDC) to
start a one-stop service for the convenience of people living in the city. The
Asia Foundation, a nonprofit international development organization, and
Yangon-based Nyan Thit Lin Reference Library (Renaissance Institute) conducted
a workshop on implementation of good practices by the municipal committee. The
workshop began on 23 January at the Chatrium Hotel.
“The
municipal authorities need to deliver excellent service to the people of
Yangon. They also need to provide one-stop service for the utmost convenience
of Yangonites,” said the chief minister. “Currently, we are making utmost
efforts for the development of Yangon Region. The Municipal election will be
conducted very soon, in accordance with the laws, rules, and regulations.
Members of political parties may also compete in the election,” he said. “We
are making arrangements for people who belong to political parties to be able
to compete in the election. We will conduct the election according to the
municipal rules,” he added.
The
workshop is being conducted with the aim of sharing opinions on the fair
collection of municipal tax, using technology for the development of municipal
areas, and providing public relations training for making tax payments
convenient.
The
workshop, which ends on 25 January, is being attended by municipal ministers
from 14 states and regions, and directors and Township municipal committee
members.
