UNION Minister for Social Welfare, Relief, and Resettlement
Dr. Win Myat Aye yesterday paid his last respects to Myaing Gyi Ngu Sayadaw, a
monk renowned for his social and religious services in the interests of the
nation and his native Kayin State.
Myaing Gyi Ngu Sayadaw Bhaddanta U Thu Za Na passed away at
age 71 (Vasa 52) on 30 October. His remains are being kept at a temporary
chamber in the Sone-nan-tha Myaing-sway town, Myaing Gyi Ngu region, Kayin
State, so people can pay their respects.
The final rites and cremation ceremony will be held on 27
November.
Dr. Win Myat Aye offered food to monks and donated over Ks3.7
million during his visit yesterday.
The Union Minister also donated 500 copies of Myainggyingu
Sayadaw’s biography, which details his services towards religion and peace.
Sayadaw U Thu Za Na passed away in a hospital in Bangkok and
his remains were transported to his monastery in the town of Myaing Gyi Ngu in
Kayin State.
