A GROUP comprised of
local and foreign media toured villages in Maungtaw Township, Rakhine State,
yesterday.
First, they visited
Inn-din Village and collected information on terrorist attacks that happened in
the village.
After the visit, they
met with local authorities at the General Administration Office in Maungtaw and
Maungtaw District Deputy Administrator U Ye Htoo briefed about the efforts for
repatriation and resettlement for returnees, peace and stability and development
in the region.
At the meeting, the
journalists interviewed the authorities.
In the afternoon, the
media group visited the village of Shwezar where the two different communities
are living in peaceful coexistence.
At the meeting with the
villagers of Shwezar, the journalists interviewed about their situation,
including current livelihood and getting National Verification Cards.
In the evening, the
media group interviewed a family which returned from Bangladesh on 4 September.
The media delegation
comprised of journalists from Nikkei Shimbun, NHK, Nippon TV, CRI, CNN, The
Guardian Newspaper, The Washington Post, CBC, MRTV, MITV, MNA and Arte
Television.
The local and foreign
journalists groups visited Rakhine State for 26 times after the terrorist
attacks in October 2016.
They visited the
conflict areas one time in 2016, eight times in 2017 and 17 times in 2018.
