National Natural Disaster Management Committee advises people in flood-hit areas



The National Natural Disaster Management Committee (NNDMC) yesterday alerted people living near rivers and low-lying areas in Madauk and Hpa-an townships to immediately leave their homes and those in Homalin Township to take precautionary measures, as the water levels in the rivers near them have exceeded the danger level. The NNDMC and Ministry of Social Welfare, Relief and Resettlement (MSWRR) had provided so far over Ks 50 million worth of rice, Ks 400,000 worth of construction materials, over Ks 32 million other supplies, over Ks 11 million rescue materials and natural disaster fund’s Ks 100 million cash assistance to the flood-hit people in Kayin State.


The NNDMC and MSWRR also provided about Ks 14 million worth of rice, Ks 6.5 million worth of other supplies and natural disaster fund’s Ks 100 million cash assistance to the flood-hit people in Mon State. Similarly, Kayin State government, well-wishers, donors and Wai Lu Kyaw Foundation together delivered, on 31 July, purified drinking water and foods to the 16 rescue centers, over 2,080 households, over10,500 people and flood-hit villages in Hpa-an Township.
