Japanese gov’t, Singapore private companies donate humanitarian aid

The Japanese government donated 1,000 temporary shelters and 25 plastic water storage tanks, worth Yen 17 million, to fulfill the urgent needs of the people in the flood areas. The Japanese government handed over those donated items through the Japan International Cooperation Agency on 7 August.

To be able to access drinking water in the flood-affected areas, four private companies from Singapore also donated a total of five water treatment plants. Each water treatment plant costs US$ 9,500. The Singapore companies handed over those five water treatment plants on 7 August. The handover ceremony of the humanitarian aid was held at Yangon Region Disaster Management Department. Disaster Management Department Deputy Director General and officials accepted the donation and presented a document of honor.

Items donated are temporary shelters, plastic water storage tanks and water treatment plants. The current donated items from the Japanese government and Singapore private companies will be distributed to the people from flood-affected areas as soon as possible.
