Dr. Tun Ko
(Professor and department head, Geography Department, Yangon University)
As our
department, we are teaching geography and planning to conduct Bachelor of
Environmental Study, master course and doctorate course next year. We are
currently opening another diploma course. Students need to gain 60 marks in
English and a total marks of 388 in order to pursue geography in my department.
If the students want to study environmental study course, they need to score 65
marks in English and a total marks of 388 in the matriculation examination. We
can teach 60 students in this semester. Geography is the study of the physical
properties of the earth, including how humans affect and are affected by them.
Any subject considered in terms of its physical distribution. We have to study
the correlations between humans and its environment and can apply to it with
the help of modern technology. Environmental study becomes well- known and it
can make a sustainable effort to our ecosystem, which is a system formed by its
environment that functions as a unit. This subject can teach them special
thinking skills and later it can enhance regional development which is a
crucial combination of our social life.
Dr. San
Shwe (Professor and department head,
Archaeology
Department, Yangon University)
Students
can attend our classes if they achieve 60 marks in English and total marks of
380 in their matriculation examination. Many graduates of Archaeology work as
lecturers, tourist guides and government officers in their respective places
across the country. It is a very interesting subject which can promote our
tourism industry and rapid economic growth.
Dr. Aung
Kyaw (Professor of Mathematics Department, Yangon University)
Teachers
play an important role in fostering mathematics skills and we teach them
according to international standards which are available for consideration and
use worldwide. We are now conducting the courses from first year to doctorate,
and trying to open refresher courses for the teachers. Mathematics can boost
better and faster calculations skills, clear logical thinking and
problem-solving abilities.
Dr. Yay

an entrance exams for those who want to study this subject at our department,
and currently we can accept 100 outstanding students who are scoring high marks

science, engineering and education sectors.
Dr. Dewa
Aung (Professor and department head of Geology, Yangon University)
We mainly
teach geology and conduct the diploma courses which can provide to understand
the basic concepts and principles of geology. Our department has introduced
environmental module in the curriculum for this course, and can encourage
graduates research work towards geology approach for use of natural resources
without harming natural environment. As you also know that Myanmar is a country
which is full of natural resources and more opportunities are available for
them. I’d like to urge the students to take part in nation-building process
through education.
Dr. Aye Pe
(Professor and department head, Botany Department, Yangon University)
We are
conducting the botany and other related courses for this semester. Moreover we
are planning to open another environmental science course very soon. Those who
want to attend this major are to get distinction in Botany and total marks
should be over 400. The numbers of students are very limited, for we can accept
only 50 students this year. Botany is the scientific study of plants, and it
involves the plant life of geographical areas. They can easily find suitable
jobs after their graduation.
