Appointment of
ambassador agreed
The Government
of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar has agreed to the appointment of Mrs.
Dorothee Janetzke-Wenzel as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the
Federal Republic of Germany to the Republic of the Union of Myanmar.
Mrs. Dorothee
Janetzke-Wenzel was born in Minden, Germany on 17th July 1953. She Studied
English, Spanish and Development Economics from 1975 to 1979 and obtained a
Diploma in Applied Linguistics and Development Economics from Heidelberg
University of Germany in 1979. Moreover, she studied at the University of
Wisconsin, USA from1980 to 1982 and received a Master’s Degree in African
Studies. She joined the Federal Foreign Office of Germany in 1984 and had
served in various capacities at the Federal Foreign Office and German Embassies
in Tanzania, Austria, and the United States of America till 2007. Afterwards,
she served as a Visiting Professor for International Relations at the German
speaking Andrássy Gyula University of Budapest, Hungary from 2007 to 2008. She
had also served as the Ambassador of Germany to Hungary from 2008 to 2011 and
to Nigeria from 2011 to 2014. Since September 2014, she has been serving as
Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany to Finland.
She is married,
with two children.
