Senior General meets Laukkai orphan, receives Singaporean Senior Minister

Defence Services Commander-in-Chief visited 2-month-old Ma Saung December Htun, who is currently receiving treatment in the Tatmadaw Hospital’s Ear, Nose and Throat (ENT) ward.yesterday morning. Ma Saung December Htun lost both parents, father U Wai Yan Htun and mother Daw Byar Mee, during the 6 March attacks by MNDAA armed troops in Yawaeshi (BEPS) school in Laukkai.

The Senior General reviewed the medical treatments by doctors on the child and gave instructions for her care.
Later he gave words of encouragements to Ma Saung December Htun’s grandparents, gifted cash donations for the child, and warmly met with the child’s relatives and officials from the philanthropic group Shwe Pyitaw Sone Mat.

Following the visit to the hospital, the Senior General met with Singapore’s Emeritus Senior Minister Mr. Goh Chok Tong at Zeyathiri Beikman (Guesthouse) in Nay Pyi Taw yesterday afternoon.

In the meeting, Mr. Goh Chok Tong expressed his attachment to Myanmar and wishes for its development. He also discussed his view on the importance of mutual trust between the Tatmadaw and political parties during the current political situation.

The Senior General discussed the Tatmadaw’s efforts in supporting the peaceful democratic transition in the current government’s one-year term, the aim to successfully implement a multi-party system, and driving the economic strength of the country for further developments.
